An older house can need a furnace, roof or plumbing work in its first few years with you, so get a thorough inspection and ask what has been updated and when. Character homes can hide older wiring and plumbing behind renovated walls.

For homes near the river, ask about spring high water and any flooding history, and find out whether the lot sits in a mapped floodplain. Your insurer will ask the same question, so get a quote early.

People who want river frontage, history and quiet streets close to downtown without living in it. Quinson, Heritage and Blackburn elementaries and Prince George Secondary are the nearby schools.
