Seymour is a planned 1960s subdivision in the central bowl between downtown and the southwest suburbs. The city approved the layout between 1958 and 1965 with a specific goal: move away from straight grid streets and build something more self-contained. Most of the housing went up through the 70s, about 45 percent single-detached homes and the rest apartments and townhouses, on lots sized for normal families rather than estate living. Renter-owner split is roughly 50/50, which keeps the population mixed. Seymour Park, Elroy Garden Park, and Parkwood Place shops are a short walk away. Duchess Park Secondary is minutes from most addresses. Price points run below the PG average, which is part of why it appeals to young families, fixed-income buyers, and empty-nesters who want to stay central.
